While Kris has consistently turned in good performances throughout the season and was probably the contestant who “grew” the most, many would acknowledge that Adam is the stronger singer with his extraordinary vocal range and control (some even call him the best singer in Idol history). No surprise then that many, including Kris himself, were shocked by the results announced during today’s finale show. So what cost Adam the Idol crown? Bank of America Corp will suspend its federally-backed student loan program by December 5, the company said in a letter to colleges and universities on Friday.
Bank of America was the fourth largest lender under the program in fiscal year 2008, issuing $4.8 billion in new student loans, according to U.S. Department of Education data. The student loan program, created in 1965, is a public-private program designed to allow banks to make student loans backed by government guarantees. Danny received the lowest number of votes from viewers during the week’s voting period. The judges were not impressed with Allison’s performance of “Cry Baby”. Last week (Top 5), Matt Giraud was eliminated. Based on votes cast since yesterday, Danny Gokey’s “Dream On” emerged as your least favorite performance this week. Anoop Desai, now home in Chapel Hill after a top-six finish on the hit TV show, will have his day. Both UNC and Chapel Hill have declared Monday “Anoop Day.” From 5:30 to 7 p.m., a reception will be hosted by the General Alumni Association at the Carolina Club. Chancellor Holden Thorp will express his thanks to Desai on behalf of the university. Doug Dibbert, president of the General Alumni Association, will speak. The event is open to the public. At 7 p.m., Desai will head to Chapel Hill Town Hall, where Mayor Kevin Foy and the Chapel Hill Town Council will present a proclamation declaring May 4 “Anoop Day in Chapel Hill” and hand Desai a key to the city.

Lil and Anoop received the lowest number of votes from viewers during the week’s voting period. Along with Lil and Anoop in the bottom 3 was Allison Iraheta. The judges were not impressed with Lil’s performance of “I’m Every Woman” by Chaka Khan, nor Anoop’s performance of “Dim All the Lights” by Donna Summer. The judges had used their “save” on Matt Giraud last week, which is why 2 contestants were eliminated this week. This week we have Top 7 again as none of the finalists were eliminated last week (Matt was “saved” by the judges). The theme for the week is Disco. Randy said: You got the party started but it sounded so wild. It still didn’t show us what kind of artist you are. No vocal control shown. Kara said: We have been waiting for you to sing something like that but it wasn’t worth the wait. You still didn’t tell me who you are as an artist. Paula said: You were hot tonight but you didn’t hit the boiling point. Simon said: I think this is the last week we are ever going to see you. Your vocals were a mess.
Kara said:You took a real risk with that arrangement. You showed us something about you. That could go on your record. Paula said: It had a classy Santana feel to it. You showed originality. Simon said: That was a complete total opposite from the first performance. It was original, it was thought out. That was not karaoke. It was a fantastic performance.
