Top 5 week: what the judges said
This week we have the Top 5 perform - Lil Rounds & Anoop Desai were eliminated last week.
The theme for the week is Songs of the Rat Pack.
Here are the perfomances and what the judges said about them:
Kris Allen - “The Way You Look Tonight”
Randy said: I think this was your best performance to date. You took your time. You told a story.
Kara said: You have set the technical standard to high tonight. Unique approach to the song. You are a dark horse.
Paula said: You are a sophisticated gentlemen.
Simon said: It was good but it was a little bit wet. You’re like taking a well trained spaniel for a walk. I don’t think you can win this competition.
Allison Iraheta - “Someone To Watch Over Me”
Randy said: You come out looking dope. That was the bomb and you did it in your own kind of style.
Kara said: I ain’t nervous for you anymore. You earned some new fans tonight. That was an emotional rendition. That should land you in the finals.
Paula said: I have been waiting so long to see how you would approach a ballad. It was very alluring and tender.
Simon said: I don’t feel you feel you can win this competition. I have a horrible feeling you could be in trouble tonight.
Matt Giraud - “My Funny Valentine”
Randy said: That was one of the hardest songs ever. For me it was a bit pitchy. Some of the runs didn’t come together.
Kara said: You needed to be a leader of the pack tonight and I didn’t feel you were emotionally connected tonight.
Paula said: I love what you did with the song and the advice you took of Jamie’s. Excellent job tonight.
Simon said: I disagree with Randy. It was the only believable authentic song I have heard tonight. I thought you were absolutely brilliant.
Danny Gokey - “Come Rain Come Shine”
Randy said: You are the only one I have heard so far tonight that could have an album of songs like that and win. You can sing.
Kara said: I have been missing that Rat Pack swagger and tonight you had swagger. I think you should just start doing standards.
Paula said: Stellar performance. I can tell you can see the finish line.
Simon said: What you had tonight was the swagger and confidence. You came out to prove a point and it was the best I have heard from you in weeks.
Adam Lambert - “Feeling Good” (the muse version)
Randy said: It was a little theatrical but you are in the zone. Another good performance.
Kara said: My mouth drops open every time you perform. I like you.
Paula said: You make me feel better than good. It is like watching the Olympics and you are Michael Phelps.
Simon said: You want to win and prove a point every week.
